About the project / Client: Institute of Development Studies

Image Rich Report Design

We were invited to collaborate with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) on the “Promoting Peaceful Pastoralism” project, which was funded by Chemonics UK, as part of a larger initiative to uphold human rights, protect the environment, and put an end to illegal or immoral activities, among other things.

IDS is facilitating a community-led participatory research study on peace and security for pastoralists who live on and cross the border between Turkana County, Kenya, and Karamoja Region, Uganda. As part of their strategy, participants were asked to share their experiences of security, peace, conflict, and instability.

We choose images that most effectively convey the stories of the community and draw attention to the viewpoints that the community wants to communicate to its readers. We then produced a comprehensive design and layout that is appealing to communities, governments, and funders.

The challange / The solution

Image Rich Report Design

The real challenge was achieving harmony, maintaining a balanced perspective, and gaining the attention of diverse audiences, such as donors, pastoralist communities, and governmental entities.

The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) approved the funding for the subsequent stage of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) research after reviewing the PIC TREE-designed report. This action fulfilled the intended objective and delivered a tangible advantage to our client.
